What Is A walkover?
A player comes across a walkover when the opponent is not able to continue the matches because of emergency, personal issues, injury, and illness.
For example, A player withdraws from a tournament because of facing an injury and that makes the player B crowned champion due to walk over.
Difference between retirement, default, and walkover:
Retirement and the fault are completely different from walk over. For winning a match a walk over is not the only way.
But people sometimes get confused in the terms like defaults, retirement, and walk over.
Retirement:
Retirement is not able to continue the match during the game. It is an unfinished game then can result due to personal emergency or injury illness.
Default:
Default is when the player is disqualified for the reasons like refusal to play, point penalty system, or ineligibility.
It is a game that never begins but is unfinished results due to lateness, refusal to start, or continuing the code violations.
You can clearly see why these definitions are hard to remember and you get confused, but in the end they always serve their purpose clearly.
For a walk over, the match never starts because of verifiable issue that does not allow the player from starting the match.
The game won by default is if it never begins but the reasons will vary from the walk over.
You can win the game by default only when the player is late, the player does not show up, does not have a verifiable reason, the player refuses to start the game, refuses to continue after a point is gained, they have made a code violation, the exhibit misconduct in the game.
Retirement is somehow similar to a walk over but it occurs only if the game has started.
For getting retirement your opponent must not finish the game due to the reasons like injury, illness, or a personal emergency.
What Is Immediate Default?
No tournament tolerates the violent behaviour of a Tennis player. If the player injured the opponent by hitting through the ball or throwing the racket, the player is defaulted immediately.
There are other reasons for immediate defaults but they are not limited to the physical attacks or attacking the spectators or tournament officials.

The rules of walk over vary according to the player you are playing with. In short you need a very appropriate reason for your opponent for not showing up.
If criteria’s are not met you cannot get to call a walk over and the opponent is also not allowed calling a walk over and telling you to take the point.
Every time a walkover is awarded it is necessary to be approved by the official. But some local leagues can have their own rules for work over.
For example, the amount of time given for the cancellation or how much time did the opponent took for reaching to the match then only the points can be awarded to the player who came.
